[no more job]

right im officially unemployed but i just checked my email and mich continued to send duty rosters to me. and i feel obliged to open them but it was very scary and nervous cos somehow i don't really feel like gg back esp if i have to work alone cos i m too antisocial le ):

to fel: aiyo left one mth only no need work le la. jus enjoy e rest of the hols. ^^

to do: watch matrix + death note

to kd: hope u wont feel too lonely but im sure u wont cos cookie jar will accompany the sociable u :D

will try to make full use of my time!

ytd was my last day of work and coincidentally, when i was abt to knock off, i met 2 tkgians! one is my comp club jnr and the other, a complete stranger who tapped me on my back and smiled at me. i dunno if she recognised the wrong person. but when we passed each other agn, she sorta waved! haaa i know her face but we've never talked before, i dont even know which class she's in but then she's quite nice la. i think she was amazed to see a fellow schoolmate dressed up as Santarina (tt's wat one tourist called me?!) giving away peel+win cards.

[failed job probation]

didnt know first few days of job were probation! anw mich said i failed it and now im demoted (actually not really, maybe i shld say "im staying as") to a replacement staff. feel like a retrenched worker. hahaa good thing is more free days left and less chance of meeting shou2 ren2 in airport which might make me feel paiseh :X only kd left now lo. so i emailed mich to ask her in which areas i failed and this is her reply:

I am glad that you take this working experience so positively. The area you fail in is that you are not proactive to approach the PAX. Your appearance, I do not mean looks but you overall image. If your hair is not long enough then don’t tie your hair up, it make people feel that you a untidy person. Remember you must constant check on your overall, because how you look or stand will portrait the message you want to give the PAX or customer in whenever you work.

I thought tying up my messy qiao4 hair will make me look neater instead. i was sort of prepared to hear from her that i failed because i broke the rules or sth like giving too many cards to the tourists and staff, nv wear court shoes earlier or sth. and she said i was not proactive.. ya mayb i was less active on the third day of work or so. quite malu work like 3 or 4 days OUT liao. lol but i think mohammad, hamdi, shaf n justine also out with me.

it's ok i can start workin on my scrapbks n clear the pile of watever waitin for me! anyway it was quite a gd experience to work at the airport. now i know the place 8% better but i still get lost. ytd was lookin at the map the wrong way (i dunno how to read maps) and i realised i pointed all the wrong directions to the tourists!! gosh! even the way to the information counter was wrongly shown. OH NO~

but ytd was really fun at night cos i met this friggin KAWAII small jap boy who seemed really smart. was tryin to communicate with them in eng n jap which they dun really understand. so consulted xuan wei's jap bk. hee and told them that if they spent "nijuu (20) dollars" they can get "go(5)" dollars discount. the boy seemed intelligent enough to understand the coupon but the mother was like dismissing him and telling me not to listen to him ahhaaa. was tryin to ask the boy's age but to no avail (cos "how old r u?" wasnt in the jap bk). sigh nv take photo with him!! anw i had loads of fun n laughter talking to them. i even said 'watashi wa miss santa desu' or sth but i don tink they heard clearly. the mother asked 'nihonjin? (japanese?)' so i said no, "shingaporu-jin desu" (singaporean). so p5 jap lessons came in quite useful (: the boy came back agn to take another card and tell me: "my name is takeru". so cute! the mother also asked for my name. i replied "sj" so she called me "sj-chan". also met a french and i asked her how to say 'hello' in french.. and she said wat "boo-jua" not "bon-jer (which i always thought was the way to pronounce bonjour)".

2nd last day of work. byebye.

[first official airport job]

wah.. i spent like ard 2 hrs on msn and going to friendster and reading other's blogs.. gosh.

sat, 18nov: went to airport for 'briefing' session (first time take the middle train!).. mich was looking kinda strict as usual. ok so we sort of have a tour around the transit area of the airport which is like so friggin big! got our santa uniforms from nat who is much friendlier. then sab, kd, n i headed down to bugis to see superstars but only saw alot of aluminium-foil-wrapped cardboards (supporting superstars one)! made me want to put them in oven.. haa. anyway good thing was I mag was celebrating it's 25th aniversary and I got 2pkts of free fruit juice (gave one to sab).

mon, 20nov: supposedly we're startin only on the 27th but mich arranged for us to start a wk earlier.. i want to end by end dec latest but i dunno if she will allow? it was tiring for my legs la.. but luckily i got mingyue n sab's company if not i dunno how i'll survive?

this job is sth like flag day. main thing is you have to approach ppl (tourists/ppl w/ boarding passes), instead of asking for donations, you ask them to take a peel+win card. if u v sociable this job surely easy-peasy for u la. found out alot of 洋人 like to ask "wat's the catch?" and say "lovely". there was one person die die also dun wan take! LOL he kept saying "nothing in this world is free". alot of ppl think i 不怀好意 la..

anw i managed to give a card to 王建复(sp?) when he came by 2nd time.. at first MY and I saw him.. i was v excited lo but missed the chance to give him. but in the end gave him but he like doesn't really understand what i was talking abt though he took it politely.

an extremely malu-ating thing also happened today. a tourist said apologetically: "sorry i don't understand your language, can you speak english?" when i was speaking eng! v paiseh didn't dare to tell him i WAS speaking eng LOL.. so repeated agn lo.. but then becos of him i make it a point to pronounce my words properly la. eg, peeeel not pill.

kept getting caught by nat when i talked to sab haa. oh at ard 8pm, nat ask me go over to t2 help mich. when i arrived there, she n kenny (i tink) were packing some cards.. so it was xtremely awkward cause she like nv talk to me. then she asked me to "jagu the counter" (d told me on another day that jagu means take care). so i stood there and tourists came to inquire (though we're not the info counter but still..the gift station looks like one) and i dunno how to ans all their qns. had to ask kenny for help. then in the end sulkily stand there fold the tabs on the cards haa..

made a new fren: wanting who really looks like yiying.. anyway e ppl there r all kinda friendly!

tue, 21 nov: found the staff canteen and made 2 new frens, d and jazreel who was an ex-tkgian. cool!~ i tried a 'lucky dip' thing which i think made the tourists quite happy. when i say,"this is a peel and win card. peel this part n u might win some prizes for free".. it's only true to a certain extent cos sometimes u get to win a free cup of coffee/cappucino (provided u buy sth) but most of them r discounts. i thot there will b IT gadgets?!

alot of ppl wanna win cars lo. some of the tourists quite funny, they exaggerate their actions when opening the cards LOL.. and there was this couple who are jus like sgporeans tho they r not asian. they took a few cards and say,"sorry we're v kiasu!" lol~

oh and there was this guy who kept coming back.. he looked abit scary, kept smiling. he doesnt seem to understand eng n then he came to ask me where he can find 'good food' HAHA obv i dunno so i referred him to d. in the end it seems like he got his food cos he walked past agn and sort of gave me a 'hands up (sth like a thumbs up without the thumb) ' happily, drink in tow. also spoke some mandarin today aft practising the day b4 (: one of my most steady days think i gave away 600cardS?!

thurs, 23nov: went to sch alone to print pae. the comp lab was open but nobody was inside.. waste elec but not really la becos if it had nt been open then i'd have no place to print. i v 厚脸皮 went to apply for clep! oh no my chinese is actually not v good lo!! but i hope to brush up. one of my dreams is to be effectively bilingual and bi-writual (??!) . HAHA but i speak too much singlish and my verbal lang is really broken! written one also GOSH!

24 nov, fri: roving with ken. quite ok but i seem to get rejected quite a few times.. when night comes, i find that cards are easier to give away cos i used the lucky dip tactic agn. or maybe it was becos work ending soon so i kinda happy :D ha. i spoke mandarin to 2 chinese-looking ladies. turned out they only knew eng! =/ then i said un-jap konnichiwa to a jap lol. then kd lost her visitor pass. but in the end a lady found it. lucky! if nt have to pay $150, as wanting says.

know some new ppl: june (who reminds me of clara tong), shirin (?) n wenxin who's kinda pretty and who's also kinda close to mich!

then mich caught me wearing sneakers (r they?) .. n ask me to chng. but i just bought those shoes $25. didn't feel like buying but scared to tell the strict her. 后来, nata (kd gave her this nick) told me it was the airport ppl who were nt happy with such shoes (mayb cos of laces) and asked us to chng. i misunderstood mich as being fussy! oops:X then nata v nice, she compared her feet with mine. i tink she might wan to lend me court (?) shoes.. but too bad la my feet way too big. anw she recommended me to go bugis icon to buy some $6-$8 black ballet-like school shoes which were acceptable.

25nov, today: went to cut hair. i got a fringe. the hairdresser says im droppin hair! oh no my birdnest head balding?! CHOY! mum bought conditioner. hope my hair improves. and lovely mum bought me my new black pumps or court shoes or office lady shoes. watever u call 'em. friggin ex $57! i'll let her inherit it la.. sis wear le shoe too big lo.

gotta go eat. tmr i redemptn. not sure wat to do. i hope all goes well thank u!~

[end of o's]

whoa sec4 really flew past in a flash. suddenly our olvls ended! no feeling lo aft the last paper. mayb one: traumatised. haha but maybe a little exaggerated.. wat i 'studied' for hist did not come out. the sbq was on chp9 china (ok i studied this a LONG time ago).. i was blank for a moment. cant rmb when great leap took place so i wrote btwn 1952-1959 (actual period = 1958-1960 so maybe mine will be accpetable?) ! so cant analyse source b. but in e end anyhow guess and crap lo. essay i wrote chp 1! and i only read through one t/v essay this morning! so jus squeezed and crapped out everything i rmb!! hopefully some will be valid la! this is really one kinda terrible hist exam gosh.. ms saffiah, 我对不起你! but hope the things i studied long time ago will be accurate la.

actually if i studied harder this ppr shld be ok lor.. compared to last yr's sbq. this yr only got 3 sources lo! last yr the gorbachev lion one i dun even understand.

i find one thing which ms tee said v wise: she said if u studied eg 5 out of 10 chps, be prepared to get 50%. well i kinda studied six .. so ....

[enjoyin the rain]

rain is a miracle.
just put my hands outside the window to feel the icy
raindrops pelting down unto my hand.
really nice! maybe one day
i'll have the chance to walk in the rain
w/o an umbrella.

Qn: what happens when your hand touches a neutral insulated sphere?

Will electrons flow to earth from the sphere via your hand? and leave the sphere +vely charged.. and then electrons will flow from earth to sphere again to neutralise the +ve charges. then the sphere will be neutral and the cycle repeats itself??

[Poem:Conflict in Northern Ireland]

the poem i wrote last yr for ss proj. tmr's ss! and to think my sec4 revision started at 12am today. but nvm i shall try my best to finish it yay! :D

They failed to live in harmony tog,
the protestants and the catholics.
the catholics demanded for home-rule
to seperate themselves from their foes.

two armies were formed,
the UVF* and the Irish Volunteers were born.

Arguments arose,
as the protestants disagreed strongly.
"if home-rule was introduced,
our prosperity and religion would suffer!"
they claimed.

The British complained of a headache
(echo: What am I going to do?)
Torn btwn the catholics and protestants,
the british gave into both sides:

Home rule to Southern ireland, and
Voting by six Ulster counties to decide.
But WWI arrived,
and the Home-rule plan was shelved.

Come 1962,
The Civil Rights Movement demanded
peacefully for equal rights.
protestin against being unfairly treated,
with their situation in a new light.

"We just need jobs, housing,
peace, no more bleeding,
education and voting."

When the protestants came,
opinions differed.
mindsets clashed,
CRM'(civil rites mvt)s hopes were dashed.

That was not all;
hostility was in the air.
violence was exchanged,
scary enough to raise hairs.

The Troubles had barely begun.
as the situation became worse,
we find it harder to rhyme verse.

August 1969,
Never judge a book by its cover.
British Army units were called for help to keep order.
They were to keep toes in line,
the catholics thought they were kind.

little did they know
more woes would follow.
their homes were searched,
suspects arrested.
the thought of being protected,
vanished w/o a trace...
only replaced,with lost faith.

The Troubles had barely begun.
The british stayed, not going away,
then there was a Bloody Sunday.

'Cause the British had guns;
they could shoot anyone.
Even peaceful civil rights marches too,
in the year 1972.

The protesters were unarmed,
not knowing they'll be harmed.
by the british soldiers.
instead of helping,only more trouble-causing.
Innocent lives thus taken,
Some people flew to heaven.

Tensions escalated,
Mistrust, hatred sown.
Protestant-Catholic relationships
reached a new
low.

As our poem reaches the end,
We hope their conflicts do too.
